2020 Washington State High School Baseball Poll
A new feature of this page and the baseball poll for the 2020 season will be a section dedicated to individuals who have done special things for Washington State High School Baseball and have passed on. It is important to keep their contributions alive. It will called “GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN” in high school baseball.
“GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN””
Some people go through life being “takers” and some become “givers”. The following individuals are our heroes in high school baseball. They have exhibited caring and devotion and have gone that extra “mile” in their own way to help give
our precious leaders of tomorrow the opportunity to be as successful as possible. To them we salute them with this
special place of honor.

Jim Reding
Seattle Times high-school sports coordinator and former sports editor of Seattle Post-Intelligencer. A kind-hearted workaholic who believed that sports were good for kids and schools. He spent countless hours on tasks large and small and no school was too small to get his full attention. Would work through the night to make sure baseball’s records were accurate during the season. The “Jim Reding Award” is the tribute of the Washington State Baseball Coaches Association to the media person each year who best carries on in his tradition.

Larry Linville
Former owner of Prostock Athletics in Bellingham. Helped with donation of the Hall of Fame inductees sweaters. Heavily involved in youth sports and making endless contributions for kids and sports. Will always be known for his wit and always available to help those in need. Coached at all levels in Bellingham and was a player in the community. Larry was a member of the 1967 Arizona State baseball team that won the College World Series.

Marty O’Brien
Coach/Educator/TBI Baseball Camp at Ephrata. Long-time assistant baseball and head basketball coach at Ephrata High School. Co-owner of TBI Baseball summer camp. Greeted everyone with a smile and his wit, and was an excellent public speaker and motivator of young people. Marty is a member of the Baseball and Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame. Baseball (Johnson/O’Brien Field) and basketball facilities (Marty O’Brien Court) are named after Coach O’Brien.

Bill O’Mara
LONGTIME SPORTSCASTER IN THE SEATTLE AND NORTHWEST AREA IN ALL SPORTS. FOR “OLE TIMERS” BILL WAS KNOWN AS A HYDROPLANE ANNOUNCER IN THE EARLY 1950’s. MOVED TO ANACORTES LATER AND DID LIVE HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL BROADCASTING UNTIL THE AGE OF 90. HE WAS A BROADCASTER WHO DID HIS WORK WITH PROFESSIONALISM AND ENTHUSIASM.

Bobo Brayton
